Ski early! With temps rising into the upper 50's today, the trails will ski best early. Daylight Savings time will help extend the day as the sun gets to work an hour later. High's in the upper 40's to upper 50's for the next 10 days. Bogus Basin trails are still amazing! Nosedive, RAzorback and Pt Mariah are groomed. It could be the last day for Pt Mariah without more snowfall.
We conducted trail assessments on 3/6 and unfortunately the overnight freezing temperatures did nothing to arrest the flow of water on many of our trails. The Northwest trail complex of Mirkwood, Yuba, Emigrant and Wells Fargo cannot open without significant snowfall. If trails on our map are closed, they are closed. Please stay on open terrain only.
Van Norden remains closed due to running water. We are looking at all possible alternatives to get into or across the meadow, but flowing and standing water are making that difficult. Two pictures attached show the depth of the Yuba at our typical crossing point. Wow!
