Sugar Bowl Resort to Reopen Dec. 14
DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. (Dec. 8, 2013) — After a weekend of deep powder skiing on top-to-bottom terrain, Sugar Bowl Resort will close for mid week skiing on Dec. 9, reopening on Dec. 14 for full-time operations.
Sugar Bowl received 28 inches of snow out of a powerful, cold Artic storm on Friday and Saturday, and skiers and riders skied from both the Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Disney lifts in deep, light snow over the weekend. The Donner Summit resort now boasts a 42-inch base at the top of the mountain.
The close of operation this week will allow Sugar Bowl resort employees to ready the mountain for full operations on Dec. 14, with both the Mt. Judah and the Village sides of the resort expected to be open for skiers and riders by the re-opening.
Very cold temperatures, with daytime highs well below freezing, have allowed the resort to continue making snow and build a deeper snow base across the resort’s 1,650 acres and 103 ski trails.
