New this Season:
We have moved the Powder Cam (aka the “Boot Cam”) from the marketing department deck up to our snow measurement station on the summit. With this change, the Powder Cam you see on our webcams page will reflect the recorded snow totals more accurately. It will also prevent the camera from being buried in a large snow year.
This season the Powder Cam will show a snow stake with visible measurements displaying 12-hour (day/night) snow accumulations. The Powder Cam you currently see is pointed towards patrols 12-hour stake, but you can expect the transition to a new branded marketing stake to be made soon.
Oh, one more thing... The boot will return.
The Judah Lodge Web Cam overlooks the Mt. Judah Express Lift and the Jerome Hill Express Lift at Sugar Bowl Resort. This popular camera is lite up at night and is popular for viewing snowfall totals as it piles up on the picnic tables of the Judah Lodge Deck. The web cam is updated every five minutes.
The Mt. Disney Web Cam showcases the Disney Nose accessed by the Mt. Disney Express plus provides a glimpse of the upper portion of Mt. Lincoln at Sugar Bowl Resort. This camera provides a great perspective of the uncrowded slopes and the iconic Sugar Bowl Lodge. The web cam is updated every five minutes.
The Race Arena camera is uniquely positioned to view the Van Ruiten Ski Race Venue. On any given day you can see athletes from the Sugar Bowl Ski Team & Academy training for their next race, accessed by Christmas Tree Express. The web cam is updated every five minutes.
The Royal Gorge Web Cam is positioned on the back deck of Summit Station. Check out the embarkation point for Royal Gorge's vast cross-country trail network. The web cam is updated every five minutes.
The Powder Cam (affectionally dubbed the Boot Cam) provides the unofficial snow measurements for Sugar Bowl Resort. Official readings come snow study plots managed in partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno and Sugar Bowl to study regional weather and the impacts of climate change in the Northern Sierra. The Powder Cam is located near the base of Mt. Disney. The web cam is updated every five minutes.
Seeing 6 inches of snow compared to 8 inches is difficult to put into a context which why we placed the boot out at the camera. It's envension what pe of powder skiing you will be doing. Is it ankle deep, shin deep or knee deep out there.
