POSITION: Marketing & Communications Manager

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Marketing & Sales

SUMMARY:  Sugar Bowl is looking for a qualified Marketing Manager who will play a critical role executing our strategic marketing plan in support of our defined vision, values, and brand. This position will serve as the key day-to-day communications, group sales and special events manager for the resort.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Director with sales & marketing duties including strategic planning and direction, budgets, media buying
  • Lead Marketing Coordinators, Group Sales Coordinator & Snow Reporters ensuring they are on task and meeting deadlines
  • Responsible for overseeing snow conditions reporting
  • Writing copy for resort newsletter e-blasts, internal communications and website updates
  • Author the content for email blasts and build content into email delivery system
  • Manage email database and customer segmentation
  • Assist in the creation of photo shot lists and photoshoot production, including help in securing model talent and assistance with photographer/videographer logistics
  • Manage social media content scheduling and updates on all social platforms
    • Actively participate, respond and incite conversation/dialogue via our social media outlets
    • Actively monitor social media outlets to keep user comments family-rated
  • Manage & execute Sugar Bowl Events (internal & 3rd Party) working to operations teams to successful execute.
  • Execute delivery of sponsorship obligations for events and around the resort
  • Communicating information internally throughout the resort
  • Oversee execution of in-resort leisure group sales & check-ins
    • Monthly tracking and reporting on all group sales revenues
  • Assist with website updates and content management
  • Management of Sugar Bowl website ecommerce including tickets, lodging, group lessons and rentals. Daily management of customer service issues and
    communication.
  • Manage 3rd Party contractors for design, media buying, video production and photoshoots.
  • Benchmark against competitors, provide pricing, product and packaging recommendations
  • Improve Net Promoter scores by managing net promoter system
  • Assist with other task in marketing and around the resort, as needed

OTHER:

  • Communicating information internally throughout the resort
  • Editing photos and videos
  • Handling guest issues in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Up 1 early morning snow phone shift per week
  • Pre-season travel and tabling at ski shows

 

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communications, Marketing or Hospitality
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a marketing role, preferably in the ski industry
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working with HTML, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver) and email marketing platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and similar programs
  • Must be well organized, attentive to details, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong skiing or snowboarding ability level preferred
  • Weekend and holiday hours are expected
  • Be hearty and resilient (we are located high atop Donner Summit, near Truckee, California and the ideal candidate must thrive in our extreme, high-alpine environment)
