Resort Improvements The planned Crow’s Peak Chairlift, scheduled to open for the 2013/14 season, will greatly enhance and improve skiing & riding on the west end of the resort, adding fall-line skiing to the Strawberry Fields and Crow’s Peak area.
Backcountry Access with Professionally-guided Powder Tours Sugar Bowl enjoys an open-boundary policy with the United States Forest Service, allowing skiers and riders to leave the resort through strategically placed backcountry gates, accessing the endless acres of powder beyond the ropes. AMGA and IFMGA-certified guides from Alpine Skills International operate the Backcountry Adventure Center, providing educational seminars on the safety of snow and guided powder tours into some of the finest backcountry terrain in all Tahoe.

A Commitment to Corduroy With an impressive fleet of state-of-the-art grooming machines deployed every night of the season, Sugar Bowl is committed to grooming 100% of our groomable terrain during peak season, weekends and holidays. And with three grooming machines dedicated specifically to Royal Gorge, more of the 200km of cross country trails are groomed to perfection, each and every day.

With convenient trailside access all day, once the lifts close for the day the Village offers a quaint, idyllic winter setting.
A World-Class Ski Team, and Home to the Western Region’s only Ski Academy Sugar Bowl/Royal Gorge boasts a long history and rich tradition of ski racing, and both the Sugar Bowl Ski Team and the Sugar Bowl Academy not only keep these traditions alive, but ensure that they flourish.
