Introducing the New Powder Cam

Now that the snow is beginning to fly, I’m sure many of you will notice a new look for the Powder Cam, affectionately dubbed the Boot Cam after last season. We decided to remove the measuring stick as this is not our official snow stake and it’s located where wind transport can significantly impact how much snow collects on the boot. The official stake is reviewed and maintained in partnership with our Ski Patrol and the University of Nevada – Reno, Water Resources, and Climate Change Department…yep, it’s scientific and correspondingly accurate. So, to avoid confusion we have opted to remove the ruler from the boot and provide you with a Sugar Bowl logo for reference instead (which happens to be 16” tall…note to self.) Plus, we added a floodlight to the camera for overnight viewing. In the future, we hope to install a camera at the official base area snow stake but until then, we are confident the new Powder Cam will bring you the same joy as before when the snow starts to pile up.
