What is the cancellation policy?
All cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee. If a reservation is canceled between the time the advance deposit is taken and 30 days prior to the arrival date, there is a $50 cancellation fee. If the reservation is canceled between 10 and 30 days prior to the arrival, guest forfeits 50% of the advance deposit. If the reservation is canceled within 10 days of the arrival, the entire advance deposit is forfeited.

What is the reservations policy?
All reservations in The Lodge require an advance deposit of the entire stay plus tax to secure your reservation. Secured reservations are subject to our cancellation policy. Standard room rates are per night for the number of guests the room can sleep. All reservations for Property Rentals require an advance deposit of the entire stay plus tax, a cleaning fee ($175 for JCL units, $290 for Town Homes and $480 for Homes due at time of booking). Secured reservations are subject to our cancellation policy. ALL RATES AND DATES ARE FINAL UPON CONFIRMATION.

What is the advance deposit requirement for reservations?
The advance deposit requirement for The Lodge and Property Rental reservations is the amount of the entire stay plus taxes and fees.

What are the holiday dates this year?
  • Christmas: December 26,27,28 2011 There is a three night minimum over this holiday.
  • New Year’s: December 29,30,31 and January 1st. There is a four night minimum over this holiday.
  • Martin Luther King: January 13-15, 2012 -There is a three night minimum over this holiday.
  • President's Weekend: February 17-19, 2012 There is a three night minimum over this holiday.
  • Presidents Week: February 20-23, 2012 There is a four night minimum over this holiday.
  • Easter Weekend: April 7-8, 2012 There is a two night minimum over this holiday.

Is this The Lodge that is accessed by the gondola?
Yes, this is the only hotel at Sugar Bowl. You park in the underground parking garage and take the gondola across to the lodge as it is snowbound is inaccessible by car.

Is The Lodge open year round?
Partially, yes. In the summer time The Lodge is host to many private functions such as weddings, corporate retreats, and other events. During these events The Lodge is closed to the public. There are times that The Lodge is not reserved and is available for the public to come stay. To check availability you can call us at (530) 426-6742 or e-mail us at We also have properties on the resort that are available for rent all year round. Just give us a call for availability.

What is the best way to get a holiday reservation at The Lodge?
Your best bet is to call early and get onto the wait list for the time that you would like to be here. When something opens up we will call you and try to get you in.

How does the wait list work?
For busy weekends and holidays we have a wait list for rooms that may become available. To get on the wait list we need to know when you would like to come up, how many people in your party, and current contact info. We will call people from the top of the wait list down but we will not leave voice messages, we will only offer the room to those who answer the phone calls. If we get through the list without selling the room we will start at the top again.

How does the pre-booking work?
As a guest at The Lodge, you are given the opportunity to have first choice on reserving the same room you stayed in for the next year during the same dates, holiday or weekend. To utilize this privilege you must speak with the front desk prior to checking out.

Is there an elevator in The Lodge and is The Lodge ADA compliant?
For the summer months there is an elevator which takes disabled persons from the parking lot to the lobby / deck level. We do not have an elevator that goes to any of the room levels. The Lodge was built in 1939 and only has stairs to the 2nd & 3rd floors. For the winter months there is no elevator available.

Can we stay just Friday night or can we stay Saturday and Sunday nights only?
No, there is a 2 night minimum on the weekends and Friday and Saturday are sold together.

Does The Lodge allow pets?
No, The Lodge does not allow pets of any kind in The Lodge or its surrounding buildings for any amount of time.

What is the mailing address and can I ship packages to The Lodge?

Where can I find road conditions info?
What are the hours of gondola and parking garage?
The gondola runs 24 hours in the winter and is closed during the summer. During the winter, the garage is open from 6am to 2am. If you arrive after these hours, please use the phone just outside the entrance to the garage. This phone rings the gondola attendant, who will open the garage for you.

How do I get from the Gondola to the house we rented?
Once parked in the underground parking garage, all your things will be loaded onto the gondola and brought across to the lodge. The gondola attendant will radio for a snowcat to meet you at the village side of the gondola. The snowcat driver will take you from the gondola to the house and back when requested. The charge for this service is $35 per trip each way.
