Kids Summer Camps


Sugar Bowl Resort, atop Tahoe’s majestic Donner Summit, is the place to be for summertime fun. From rock climbing, mountain biking, swimming, and painting for the kids to wellness yoga, and wine tastings for the adults, Sugar Bowl has it all. The kids have fun, educational adventures all over the Summit with the renowned Gateway Mountain Center’s Camp Sugar Bowl, leaving parents to soak in the beauty of the Sierra in whatever way they choose. Options are vast and varied, ensuring a memorable outing for all involved.

Explore Nature

Ages 4-6 years
Cost: $500

Your young children will enjoy exploring spectacular Donner Summit…mountain meadows, granite outcrops, alpine lakes and forests, all while being guided by top environmental educators. Adventure activities include: easy hiking, rock climbing, water play (lifeguard supervised), coupled with nature art, storytelling, active games and yoga. Give your child the chance to push their own physical skills while learning about the natural wonder of Donner Summit.

Adventure in Nature

Ages 7-9 years
Cost: $635

Donner Summit is the perfect location for exciting mountain adventures! Our week combines spectacular hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking (must have or rent a mountain bike), swimming, and whitewater rafting. Camp Sugar Bowl balances adventure with learning. The week is rounded out with art, games and science explorations of the stunning natural history, geology, and human history of the Summit. Give your kids an extra special experience with the 'Sleep Away Camp' option during the second week (below)!

Mountain Adventure

Ages 10-12 years
Cost: $685

Got adventurous kids? This camp gives them a chance to try a variety of adventurous outdoor activities. We subscribe to challenge by choice philosophy. We give kids the opportunity to push their physical and mental boundaries all week while having fun! Activities include spectacular hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking (must have a mountain bike or rent one), stand up paddle boarding, swimming, and whitewater rafting or inflatable kayaking. The week is rounded out with learning about the stunning natural history, geology, and human history of the Summit. Give your kids an extra special experience with the 'Sleep Away Camp' option during the second week (below)!

Adventure, Leadership, and Stewardship

Ages 13-15 years
Cost $710
This camp will have an adventure focus, a leadership focus, and a stewardship focus each day. Here, campers learn to become a thoughtful citizen of the world while having fun, challenging adventures. They will do everything from swimming in alpine lakes, to rock climbing, to kayaking, to learning wilderness survival skills and using them on an overnight backpacking adventure. The leadership portion will focus on communication, teaching skills, goal setting, becoming role models, and problem solving. Stewardship themed activities include, a conservation project, studying and employing Leave no Trace practices, teaching younger kids, and learning about sustainability and personal stewardship. Mountain Bike Camp

Ages 10 - 15
Cost: $685

Donner Summit has spectacular mountain biking! We will explore the dirt roads and trails weaving through the forests of the gorgeous Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge lands. Our focus will be on improving skills, while having fun. Bike handling, single track technique, trail etiquette, bike maintenance and repair will all be covered. The week will include swimming, nature explorations, and a rock-climbing outing. Prior bike experience is recommended, participants must have their own bike or rent one prior to camp.

Sleep Away Camp

Ages 7 - 15
Cost: $500 plus regular day camp fees

During week two of camp we are offering a sleep away option for all kids 7 and older. Check-in is on Sunday afternoon; where campers will say goodbye to the parents for the week. It is a great opportunity to build friendships, self-reliance and to get some experience staying away from home. When the day camp ends the overnighters will stay with our counselors. They will sleep and play after day camp at the Clair Tappaan Lodge on Donner Summit. There they will do an activity each evening (including things like night walks, yoga, games and crafts). All food is provided from Sunday night dinner through lunch on Friday.

BBQ's at Lake Mary

In addition to the scheduled Lake Mary Cabin Dinner Series, we’re pleased to offer campers, their families, and Sugar Bowl Villagers BBQ meals at Lake Mary. These BBQ's are included with the cost of camp for campers, and are available for Villagers and camper families for a small fee, coming soon. please call (530) 426-7000 for reservations.
