The Gateway Mountain Center gets youth outside! Connecting youth to nature, they provide hands-on learning in field science, mountain adventure, and eco-literacy. Gateway Mountain Center serves schools from around Northern California, including many from low-income communities, and runs ongoing youth development programs for local at-risk teens.

We facilitate spirited, rigorous, adventurous, and transformative explorations of one's self and the natural world. We prepare tomorrow's citizen's and leaders to envision, create, and support new roles for themselves in our emerging green society. By highlighting the sustainability of our ecosystems, fostering a sense of wonder, and implementing systems thinking, we have significant impact on educational relevance. Our innovative and successful programs invoke inquiry, respect, confidence and greater health in mind and body.
