The Sugar Bowl Mountain Sports Learning Center has top notch instructors and multi-day clinics to help you improve in powder, steeps, bumps or groomers. We also offer several specialty clinics designed just for women with top notch nationally renowned female instructors. Looking for the ultimate back country experience? How about a day of private coaching with skiing legend Eric DesLauriers? We also have a great program for you to learn to be an instructor or at least ski or ride like the pros. So whether you are looking to learn a switch 720 or for a back country safety lesson we offer specialty coaching and clinics to take you to the next level!

Sugar Bowl’s Mountain Sports Learning Center (MSLC) is offering 2-day & 1-day camps with focus specially designed for active, energetic women who are eager to improve their skiing and snowboarding skills.

Sugar Bowl's women's clinic is geared to those with prior ski or snowboard experience who are looking to build their confidence. Each day will be designed to help take you to the next level, all while enjoying a day out with the girls.

Each day clinic includes a morning yoga session, 4 hours of on-the-snow training with Sugar Bowl’s top female certified instructors, lunch, wine tasting & massages. This program will challenge you, improve your performance, and will be tailored to the participants needs for that session. A fun adventure for senior customers while coaching and guiding guests with modern contemporary ski techniques. This adventure is geared towards seniors ages 55 and older who are looking to improve their skiing. We advise modern contemporary skis & boots for the clinic. Snowboarders are welcome to participate. Total value of this clinic is over $1,000 if you were to purchase this separately, so take advantage of this great deal for only $225.

NASTC Clinics

NASTC’s LUNA Chix Slow Food/Fast Skiing, Sugarbowl, CA. January, 11-12
This course is a unique fusion of avant-garde culinary culture with finest level of ski instruction. It is a two-day excursion of indulgence; we are bringing you the best from both the ski world and the culinary world. During this course, you will spend two full days working with one of the NASTC LUNA Chix trainers and receive personalized coaching to take your skiing and confidence to new heights. Additionally you will be treated to a sumptuous dinner prepared in the Slow Food method by owner and chef Billy McCullough of Dragonfly Cuisine, Truckee. Slow Food is a movement that focuses on producing good quality food in an organic and sustainable manner. NASTC advocates Slow Food philosophy and practices as part of the path to a healthy and active lifestyle.

SAMPLE TRAINING DAY
  • 8:30am: Orientation, split into your groups and go over day's schedule and goals.
  • 9:00am: Head to the lifts & begin skill development via drills & technique work
  • 12:30pm: Lunch with group on hill
  • 1:30pm: Continued on-hill training, video, free-skiing varying conditions & terrain
  • 4:30pm: Indoor clinic: video viewing / technical session (all tech talks are optional)
  • 6:30pm Dinner out with group (all dinners are optional)
Our schedule will vary day to day depending upon snow conditions, conditions and desires of your group, and your group's general progression and improvement. Throughout the week there will be video/video analysis, an indoor technical session, group dinners, and personal skiing evaluations.

Eric's innovative teaching approach maximizes today's modern ski designs and simplifies ski techniques to move skiers beyond the confines of groomed runs. "Our goal at All Mountain Ski Pros is to teach you the simple skills to ski well in all terrain and snow conditions, so you can welcome the challenge of the mountains with freedom and confidence," says director, Eric DesLauriers.

The focuses of these adventure camps are to apply modern contemporary ski/board techniques to your personal skiing/riding. Sugar Bowl's elite PSIA certified instructors focus on tactical approaches to blend and incorporate modern ski techniques to each individuals personal skiing/riding for maximum efficiency and effectiveness regardless of snow and terrain conditions. Our instructors will assess your movement patterns, skill sets, equipment selection, and make recommendations to enhance your mountain experience. Whether you are an intermediate or expert, this program will challenge you and improve your performance.

Dedicated instructors for Downhill (Alpine) Skiing, Snowboarding and Cross-Country (Nordic) Skiing

Requirements:
Each Scout must arrive with an approved "Application (blue Card) for Merit Badge" signed by the applicant's unit leader. Each Scout is responsible to make their appointment on any of the dates listed above. Appointments should be obtained at least 7 days in advance.

The merit badge process takes approximately 2 hours and a valid Sugar Bowl lift ticket/pass is required. The Scout Buddy System applies for each appointment. Each scout must be able to demonstrate at the advanced intermediate level for the appropriate discipline. Appropriate training maybe obtained through lessons offered at any snow sports resort learning center.

Completion of the Snow Sports Merit Badge Workbook is recommended. A copy of the Snow Sports Merit Badge is available online at usscouts.org/usscouts/mb/mb135.asp. Each Scout is required to read the current Snow Sports Merit Badge pamphlet and be able to discuss and demonstrate all requirements.
