Snowboard Coaches Bios
Jon Maitia - Team Manager
I have been teaching snowboarding since 1999 and have been teaching at Sugar Bowl since 2002. I have been the Head Coach of the Sugar Bowl Snowboard Team since the beginning in 2004. I am a level three AASI (American Association Of Snowboard Instuctors) certified instructor and level 100 USASA (United States Of America Snowboard Association) Freestyle Coach. I fell in love with teaching snowboarding long ago and will continue to develop young snowboarders for as long as I can.

Mike Evans - Coach
Hey! My name is Mike Evans. This will be my second season coaching with the Sugar Bowl snowboard team and my fourth season teaching. I am also a product of the Sugar Bowl Snowboard Team. Snowboarding has been my biggest passion since I was 9 years old. I started riding at Sugar Bowl as a kid and have been riding here ever since. I fell in love with working with kids and giving forward my passion for this amazing sport! I've learned how to really inspire kids to get out there ride when it counts and can't wait continue to do the same this season!

Jeff Murray - Coach
My name is Jeff Murray I have been apart of the snowboard team since day one which was over six years ago. This team has reshaped my life. I have spent my first season as a coach and an instructor this past winter, while doing so I was able to obtain my American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) level one certification and my United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) level 100 certification. This coming winter I have plans to progress and receive my AASI level two certification. I was also certified in basic first aid training through the Red Cross at my school. I have also ran an improve club for two years and worked as a teacher’s assistant at a summer school for kids with special needs. This season is going to be a good one.
